Twilight
Stephenie Meyer
Atom, 2006
First impression:
Grammatical tense strange and slightly confusing. Quite good compared to my expectations but the main character is such an unenthusiastic drag.
Review:
I will pay my respects to the fact that this book is extremely catchy in all its exaggerated, effete indulgence. The plot is intriguing and the characters easy for the mind to digest. It is a very quick and addictive read. The most bothersome part to me was the sentence structure, which has given me good reason to fret how my English is going to sound the next few days. I also feel the need to mention the awkwardness that seemed to infest the dialogue, something that really disturbed me at times, though I am certain some would find it charmingly relevant to the youths this book is directed to. As mentioned, I did not detest this book like I believed I would, but I did like the film better, which is a first for me.
