Four Tales

Four Tales
Philip Pullman
Illustrations by Peter Bailey
Random House, 2010

First impression:
The very, very first impression I have of this book is that the illustrations are absolutely lovely. As far as the text goes (I have now read one out of the four tales), it is a little too dramatically simplistic for my taste, but I must bear in mind that this is a book intended for children and that wonderful works like The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless are also written in that style. However, I'm going to have to read more of it before I can make a final decision.
